The brief
Make use of an awkward, unused area of the room. Maximise the space for a large book collection with hidden storage below, feeling settled in the room rather than freestanding.
The challenge
The space sat in a dark area of the room and needed a unit with a 90 degree corner, working around a bulkhead detail in front of the space.
The solution
Floor-to-ceiling shelving with closed-off units below, in a Shaker style to keep the traditional character. A sliding bookcase ladder maximises the height available and adds a feature. Farrow & Ball Brinjal, a deep colour to complement the darker space, with lighting installed to highlight the large book collection.
